ESEA has published the tournament format for its season 13 finals event where the top four European and North American teams will go head-to-head for a $36,000 prize purse.
ESEA finals will be played, as usual, in a best-of-three double elimination bracket, with the winner of the consolidation final having to win two separate best-of-three series in the grand final to become the champion.
To separate European and North American seeds from each other, in a case where e.g. the European second seed would face the North American second seed, ESEA has decided to follow MLB in their footsteps and allow the all-stars match to determine that.
Each continent will have at least one and a maximum of two players from each team representing themselves in a best-of-one all-stars match on a pre-determined map at the beginning of the finals. Community will get to vote for the players on ESEA's website.
Europeans will face off against North Americans for the first time in ESEA
The winning continent will win the first, third, fifth and seventh seeds, while the loser will have to settle for second, fourth, sixth and eighth. First round of bracket play will begin with number one seeded team facing number four from the other continent, number two facing number three, and so on.
Furthermore, as ESEA continues to have a map pool of eight maps, they have decided that the higher seed will have two options; either to become the home team and get to pick starting sides on first and third map, or become the away team and remove more maps.
The away team gets to remove a total of three maps from the eight in play as well as pick the starting side on the second map, while the home team will have to settle for removing just two of the eight maps.
ESEA finals will take place in North America in the coming months, although the exact date and location are yet to be announced. HLTV.org will keep you updated and will provide you with full coverage of ESEA Invite Season 13 finals.
